"Not without my father" was a project by Ryan Pfluger about fatherhood and his MFA thesis in 2007; with his father Ryan has recreated memories of the past and created new ones representing emotions and pieces of their lives left behind. Ryan Pfluger is born in 1984 and raised in Queens, New York; graduated in Photo, Video and Related Media from New York's School of Visual Arts, he has worked for Time, Marie Claire, New York Times magazine, Vogue, GQ, Details, Time Out, OUT, Wired, Spin. Anthony Williams (aka Joe Simmons, Thomas Williams, Preston, Buck) born July 1959 in Yonkers, New York, appeared in the Playgirl's September 1992 issue. Photographs by Robert Cunnungham. As Joe Simmons starred in more than 20 gay porn movies; he had studied acting, singing and dancing, appeared in five off Broadway musicals and also worked in construction, building stage sets. He met Robert Mapplethorpe and became the subject of a series of photographs. In 1994 he discovered he was HIV-positive, died of AIDS October 1995.

His work is featured in the book BEAUTIFUL VISION published by Bruno Gmunder in 2010.
